day 03 - Nasca

And there we go for the lines ... no breakfast recommended ... and even then I nearly trew up !

The plane goes first 90degrees left so the people one side can take pictures, then turn completely to 90 degrees the others side for the people on that side. We didn't do this one time but for nearly each figure ... nevertheless a breathtaking experience to see those lines ... increadible that they are about 2000 years old and still there ! Here are some of them ... of course it is very difficult to take a picture of them!

After a late breakfast I went at the and of the morning to the museo Antonini with a very detailed description of the Nasca-culture with beatiful displays and even textile ...

As it is hot during the day over here I went to my room for a rest and in the late afternoon I went on foot (only 1 km from the hotel) to an archiological site ... here are some pic's As you see there is not much left but you have to take in mind that this is what they call ADOBE (which mean clay) and the nature does the erosion ...

I was all alone and I had a special encounter ...

I think it is a kind of falcon ... there where 2, but one flew away when I approached.

(latest news ... following bart's information these are burrowing owls)

At the top of course a beautifull view on the region ...

Now after this writing ... a pisco-sour and dinner and tomorrow bus at 11:30 for Arequipa !

day 02 - Nasca

Woke up early this morning at 6:00 am to take the bus to Nasca. It was a grey sky over Lima and a few hundred km down it started even to rain. The south beaches of Lima are perhapds beautiful, but the people behind it live in realy poor conditions. The panamerican highway was first large (4strips), but afterwards it became a simple road on which they drive as crasy !

And then it became completely different : the very hot sun and the real desert.

After a 6 hour drive we came to the Nasca-plateau. And yes the famous lines.

But you do not see much of it from the road. A few minutes later I arrived in Nasca village and found a realy beautifull hotel.

Cactus and bougainvilliers everywhere.

Nasca is not very big (max 20 roads and 1 plaza) so I went for a walk. In belgium they let pass the people, over here they do not stop so you have to wait and take a change from time to time. Before I left I met the local guide and he asked if I was interested to make a flight over the lines .... OF COURSE ... that's why I came to Nasca. So I planned the big flight of 1 hour over the different places of lines and figures ... and as teaser I went with another guide to the lines today. Visisted first the 'lady of the lines', (picture is her car that she used to go from one place to another) a woman who spend 50 years looking after the lines,

afterwards we went to the mirador ( a metal tower of 10m height so you can see 3 different figures the tree, the two hands and the lizard)

and finaly we went to a litte hill where you can see different lines strechching to the horizon.

Then the sunset begins and all coulours changed.

A beautifull sunset and time for dinner and sleep.

Tomorrow up at 7:00 direction airport to take my flight over the lines.

day 01 - arrived well

hi to you all ...
Left yesteday (13th) early ...

I am in peru now.
arrived yesterday at 8pm at airport and took taxi to hotel.
went to sleep immediately and slept for 10 hours.
no mobile phone over here ... other system so no use of my phone.
I met new friends and have a day with  them today ...

Bought already the busticket for tomorrow early in the morning for Nasca.
I am in a cybercafe for the momemt (cheap) and will reconnect as soon as possible.

Went afterwards with them to a restaurant

and had woderfull food .... we paid only 23€ for the 4 of us.

As started we had big mussels filled with fresh salsa, Causa : tuna with yellow patatos and  Conchitas a la parmesanas : scallops (coquilles st jacques) with parmesan (only the last one cost in europe 20€ per person)

As main I had the famous cheviche (raw fish marinated with lime garlic and chili)

All with a cool drink called chicha.

Visited with them Lima center ... very loud and noisy, but also lively !

As I was very tired ... must be the jetlag ... went very early to bed.

A good day in Lima thanks to my friends...
